Wheaton Biostir 6 Model III Magnetic Stirrer For sale- a Wheaton Biostir 6 Model III, part number 902600. This is a six position magnetic stirrer. I have three, but only one is fully functional. PLEASE READ: when I say fully functional, all six positions spin like crazy, tested using paper clips and man did they dance. The stirrer has six positions, three pairs. When I listened to them one pair at a time (instead of just watching the paper clips spin) the pair on the right didn’t sound quite as fast or as “strong” as the left and center pair. So I opened the thing up to see what there was to see. What there was are three Dayton 2M057 motors. The left and center motor are 2M057B’s, the one on the right is a 2M057A. So I have to assume that perhaps the left and center motors are replacements. 2M057B motors are available here on ebay for about $85 new, and from Granger for $100 or so, so if you had to replace the right motor it would take about 15 minutes and wouldn’t break the bank. I am going to call the one stirrer USED, because it will stir. Whether it is entirely suitable for you to use as is or would need a motor replaced, you know pretty much exactly what you are getting into here. And given the shipping costs involved, I don’t think a return would be all that practical. So on this one I am going to say that no returns will be accepted. If you would prefer to replace all three motors and start fresh I will be happy to entertain offers for the other two Biostirs. They both power up and at least one of the motors in each is marginally functional, but they are NOT usable as is and if I were to list them separately they would be for parts or repair.
