This probe has a high sensitivity of 300,000 cpm per uCi of Am241 with a typical background of less than 5 cpm. It comes from a retiring radiation safety and health physics consultant. The probe also comes with a MHV male connector supplied cable and Victoreen included product information. Its efficiency when detecting Pu-239 is 13%, and 9% when detecting Am241. It boasts a 2-inch diameter and operates at 900 volts. Its aluminized Mylar window has a thickness of 3 mg/cm2 and the probe measures 7.5 inches in length. The Victoreen 489-60 alpha radiation probe is a scintillation detector made by Ludlum Bicron Eberline. This particular model is in excellent mechanical and electrical condition and was not obtained as surplus.
