It is a portable unit and has a battery compartment that uses 4 D batteries. No batteries included. The unit powers up. My problem is getting results that repeat consistently. It may need serviced or calibrated. It may be my transducer selection. Sold As-Is. Item weighs5 lbs, 13 oz w/o shipping box or packing material. About 7 lbs shipped secure. Seller Notes	“Seems to work half the time. My issue is repeatability. I do not have the proper transducer for doing measurements. I am using a single element .75" on a small step wedge. Sometimes it reads, other times it is off .025+/-. It may need serviced or calibrated.”
