This adapter fitting connects pipes or fittings with different end types. It has male National Pipe Taper (NPT) threads on one end for connecting to female threaded pipe and a male spigot connection for fitting into a female unthreaded pipe on the other end. The NPT threads create a tighter seal than straight threads, and the spigot end has the same diameter as the pipe it connects to, minimizing turbulence and creating a tight seal.
