Sony EVI-D30L The ViewStation 512, View Station FX, VS4000 and MP used the Sony EVI D30L PTZ Camera as the primary camera in regions which the NTSC TV standard applies. NTSC is the native TV standard for North America. The Sony EVI-D31 is a PAL version. PAL TV is the standard for most of the world. The Sony EVI-D30/D31 camera is the PTZ camera that is built into the classic ViewStation system that appeared in the late 1990s and has dominated Video Conference system installations ever since. This Sony EVI-D30L camera can be purchased as a replacement for a malfunctioning ViewStation camera in regions supporting NTSC TV. Replacing them is not too difficult for a talented technical person with basic tools. Picturetel, VCon and others also used the Sony EVI-D-30 camera. It is the most recognizable component in videoconferencing today. The Sony EVI-D30L can be used as a webcam, a robotic security camera, and it can be integrated into a videoconferencing system. S-Video and VISCA Control Jack Equipped PTZ means Pan-Tilt-Zoom. These cameras can pan to the right or left, tilt up and down, and they come with a 12x Zoom too. The Sony EVI-D30L is a PTZ camera. 2nd Cameras for the VS4000 and FX are often this very same workhorse: Sony EVI D30L. A 2nd PTZ camera is used to capture a different view of the conference room. One application is in a classroom where you may want to watch the instructer most of the time but occasionally you want to show the class or even highlight an individual that is making a particularly important point by panning, tilting, and zooming in on them. The alternate or second PTZ camera could also point at a whiteboard or even at a 3-Dimensional display. With special software and cables this can be a high-powered camera that can be controlled through your computer. The L series of Sony's EVI D30/D31 cameras does not have IR receiver capabilities because it was designed to integrate with PC software or Videoconference System based software that would control its movement. A wireless mouse or Polycom remote can be used to control the Pan-Tilt-Zoom of the camera through software packages (not included). Nothing else is required for a ViewStation camera replacement as the power, remote control, and cable connectivity are provided by the ViewStation itself. You will receive a 110-120V power supply included with the camera. It is not necessarily the exact power supply shown. We have multiple power supply models.
