Most people leave the old compression nut and sleeve and just change the valve body only, which increases the chances of leaks and causes property damage. The engineers at Saf-T-Kut saw this problem and found a solution that will not bend, smash or mushroom the end of copper pipe or tubing. The unique design of the compression ring remover supports the 1/2? copper pipe while the bit cuts the compression ring with just a few slight turns. The shape of the remover allows it to fit into tight places and makes quick work of an otherwise difficult ring remover. Removes brass compression ring in seconds No damage to copper pipe Fits into tight places Easy to use. How To Use: Unfurl and then remove all existing water shadows and/or angle stops from copper piping Push the existing nut back, exposing the brass compression ring Place the pipe insert into the copper pipe - Make sure your copper pipe is reamed properly per plumbing code Turn the splitter head clockwise, finger tight Using a pair of pliers, turn the splitter head clockwise with little turns until you hear a snap Do not over tighten past that point otherwise it will cause damage to the copper and also break the tool Lastly, loosen the splitter bit, removing the existing compression nut and brass ring
