I think it is for making an oil burner air tube seem shorter; if it sticks too far unto the combustion chamber; adding this brings the air tube 2-1/2 inches to the back, also the 3 holes on each end have different patterns, inside diameter 4-1/2 inches. 8 inch outside ring diameter. 2-1/2 inches deep. very clean; everything loose has been cleaned; has paint still stuck on the one side, weighs 1 pound 15 ounces. sold as is.
