You are considering a Nichols brand, hydraulic "tilt table". We are not sure what the proper term for this type machine would be. It was part of an assembly line process at a local manufacturing facility that went out of business. They have it marked as a "Layback Machine". The previous owner manufactured office furniture and this machine was used to flip some of their products on their sides for assembly or packaging. The operation of this machine is a little hard to explain. As you can see from the last few pictures, the entire "L" shaped portion flips back. Once flipped, the top section can be locked in place by pneumatic "catches" and the bottom section can be lowered back down separately (see last picture). The bottom section of the lift has a manual roller conveyor mounted to it. This section can also be shifted in and out, we assume to accommodate different size components, using the hydraulics. There are several adjustable limit switches on the machine that keep certain functions from working while others are engaged. For instance, you can't shift the bottom conveyor section in or out unless the two sections are separated and the bottom section is lowered. These limits could probably be rearranged to make the machine operate differently to suit your needs. We have 2 of these machines available. The machines are not marked with any type of model or serial number that we can find. There is a sticker on the bottom base of one machine that says "Nichols", but we have been unable to find any other information. The two machines are identical other than the hydraulic systems are different brands and a few of the pneumatic cylinders and switches are different brands as well. We do not know the weight handling capacity of the machine. The hydraulics are powered by a 5 HP electric motor. The system is wired for 440V 3 Phase. The motor is 230 or 460 volt capable, so the machine should be able to be wired for 230V if needed. Approximate Overall Measurements of machine: 104" Wide X 120" Deep X 77" Tall.
