I believe they were made mainly for pay phone lock boxes but that's just an educated guess. If anyone knows anything about them, would love some input. Even if you don't need one right now, buy one and have a copy made. If you lose your only key, it can cost hundreds to have a new key generated from scratch, where having a copy made is usually only a few bucks plus the cost of the key. Even if your key takes a computer chip, you can still have a spare copy cut onto one of these for a door key.
