HP Designjet 600, 650C, Overdrive Clutch & Gear Kit  Part number: C3196-60148 The overdrive clutch assembly drives the output rollers faster than the paper platen to draw the paper tightly against the platen for printing.  If the carriage is hitting the edge of the paper or print quality is poor, it may be because the clutch is no longer driving properly.  The distance between the print heads and the paper is critical for good print quality and an air bubble under the paper will cause shadowed images.
