History: This Hickok 752 has been my trusty backup tube tester for the last two years. It works fantastic, and it rarely get used. But in the time I have had it I have ran 5AR4/6V6/6L6/6SN7/12AU7/12AX7/45/50s all thru it just to name a few. The best feature of the 752's is the dual triode test buttons-you can test both halves of a twin triode without re-setting the selectors. The only difference between a 752 and a 752a is the a has the 9 and 12-pin compactron sockets. TV TUBES ANYONE? Checks mutual trans conductance for tube quality test. Meter has only one scale which makes it easier to read than most other Hickok testers.  A multiplier switch is set rather than using several meter scales. Handy "Plate 2" button allows for testing double section tubes without resetting selector switches. Meter and roll chart are backlit....another feature not found on most Hickok tube testers This feature really makes the tester a joy to use in darker rooms. #49 light bulb acts as a bias fuse to protect the sensitive bias potentiometer. 2 plate voltages available. Life Test button Terminals for attaching external self bias resistor.   Shorts and leakage are indicated on the meter rather than a less reliable neon bulb. Sensitive gas test Model 752 has 4-5-6-7 pin, octal, loctal, 7 & 9 pin miniature, acorn, and sub-miniature sockets.  This tube tester at some point in it's life was used at the Seattle Air Traffic Tower. To the right of the handle is paint stating SEATTLE ATCT. These are the tube testers the FAA ordered and used at most of their facilities. Wonderful piece of hardware.  Repair: It has had all out of tolerance resistors, and capacitors replaced, sockets cleaned,  and has been restored to as best as possible without a factory calibration manual.  Unfortunately Hickok never release a true calibration method for the 752/752a. So units, even to this day can't "technically" be calibrated.  I have compared test results with my Amplitrex AT-1000 and calibrated 539c and I would say it is within 10% of either of those tube testers. That doesn't mean this will be anything like a current tube tester that you own, just my experience with this particular unit. That being the disclaimer, this tube tester will give MANY years of service with minimal maintenance.  Condition: Things to note: The Tolex (black covering) has tears, rips, and holes in various places. Some of the chrome bumpers have mild rust on them. Their is wear around all knobs, and controls. Also the wheel next to the roll chart is well worn (see photos) The rubber base feet are intact but worn. The handle is not broken, and it still has it's original Hickok serial plate. Please see photo's for details Items included in this auction:  (1) Hickok 752 tube tester (1) Grid Cap Wire (for use with a plate or grid tube)  (1) Operation and Maintenance instruction manual (From RadiolaGuy.com) (1) Supplementary Test Data for 752/752a (From RadiolaGuy.com) (1) Tube Tester Manual (From RadiolaGuy.com) (1) 7 pin socket saver (mounted in tester) The manual's alone are a $80 value! Shipping & Returns: What is the worst thing ever than receiving a tube tester off eBay and having the rectifier fall out, or the transformer come loose, or the pilot lamps break out. Or wait? Having the meter's all damaged? Why do I mention these things? Because they have ALL happened to me! ALL OF THEM. So. Let me just say that Yes, I do know how to pack these for safe transit. One of the things I do is pull the tubes, and anything else that I think that might jar loose in shipping. And pack them up as to not damage the tester. I go back over all the nuts/bolts/screws and just make SURE that everything is tight.  **Disclaimer** By taking out the tubes, and assorted items you going to need to reinstall them in the tester. So if that is something you don't think you can take on then I would look at another unit to purchase. Sorry. :( I also don't do buyers remorse. It is listed at a fair Buy-It-Now price, and so you don't need to fight it out in an auction. What I do guarantee is that it will NOT BE DOA. These tube testers, PROPERLY packed will weigh over 35 pounds packed.
