There is a clearance angle on the sidewalls. This allows for easier penetration and removal from the concrete. (Flexible for Easy Release as Well as Clean-Up.) (Actual impression in concrete using this stamp.) Using the Stamp: Step 1: It is suggested but not absolutely necessary to coat the stamp with a thin coat of form release. Step 2: Press stamp into concrete at the appropriate setting time, then remove. It is very helpful to have a rubber mallet on hand to achieve the desired impression depth. Step 3: If you would like to brush the impression area gently use a soft paintbrush NOT your normal brush for creating an anti-slip surface. Step 4: Clean-up ~ Rinse with water after each use. Tip: It seems to be helpful to pre-stamp the area while the concrete is still fairly wet and just beginning to set up like shown below. You can carefully remove and replace it as many times as needed until the impression is dry and looks good. Clean, dry, and apply a new thin coat of form release to the stamp before each re-insertion. Alternative Method: If you're not looking to get such a deep and rich impression just wait until right after the job has been finish broomed and then tap in a light impression without bottoming out the stamp and be done with it. No pre-stamping and paint brushing necessary. It is also suggested that you try a sample pour/impression before attempting to use it on a finished job.
