LOG CABIN Relax and Escape in a Dovetail Cabin I have always had an interest in early American log homes and that was my inspiration for this design. It is very strong but simple. I am in the lumber business and I found some very large Hemlock timbers and decided to build log cabins. I chose Hemlock for its resistance to decay and infestation. It was my intention to build a log cabin in the mountains to escape the rush of everyday life. After having my third child, my wife informed me that now was not the time to run to the hills. So, I have decided to sell log cabin “kits”. This “kit” includes: the walls, roof rafters, ridge beam, loft joist, porch rafters, four cypress porch post and the door and window bucks. The cabin is 18’ x 26’. The logs are 6” x 12” Hemlock. The roof is on a 12/12 pitch and the rafters are 4” x 8”. The loft is about half the size of the cabin. The kit is a shell and you can change it as you see fit to meet your needs. It should be easy to stick build a master bed, bath, and closet off the back. We build the cabin, and then we number and label all the pieces so it could be easily re-erected. It should take about 3-4 days to put it back up once your foundation is ready. I also offer many other items that you will need to complete the cabin, such as; wall insulation, chinking, roof insulation, tin roof (or wood shakes), windows, flooring, etc. The log cabin will be sold “as is” and you should check your local building codes to make sure you build it in compliance in your area.
