What makes it universal is the interchangeable adapter cup feature. The adapter cup is a removable and replaceable mold. Each mold is designed to hold the specific model of the radio and battery. If you own 2 different radio models, all you need is 1 charging unit and 2 correct adapter cups to charge the radios or batteries. Instead of buying 2 separate chargers, you can just have 1 charger and replace the correct adapter cup to fit each radio or battery. Because each adapter cup fits only specific radio or battery model, you need to choose the correct adapter cup that is compatible with your radio.
