4 piece set consisting of a pair of hefty “universal” press bars for 30 to 40 ton presses PLUS a pair of PREMIUM X-BARS to cut unit loading of workpiece by at least half. Our X-BARS, BIG BARS and Press Plates are proudly used around the country by: Farm, Aviation, Auto and Heavy Duty shops, plus Racers, Marinas, Machine Tool, Industrial and Hobbyists of all descriptions. Where ordinary 20 ton plates are to short or to weak, these Good Steel Bars will get your job done. Made from a Prime Steel with Yield Strength of over 52,000 psi. Ordinary steel has a yield strength of 20,000 psi. These bars weigh in at manageable 16 pounds apiece. These measure 2.5 inches x 1.75 inches x 13.125 inches long and will handle a load of 40 tons over a span of 9.5 inches. The ends are both ground and the edges are only slightly radiused and polished to prevent "kicking out" and to distribute pressing load over the maximum area. This set contains 2 of our popular "X bars" (4 notch plates measuring 5 inches X 7.25 inches) for distributed load and best setup. You will receive 2 brand new bars. Your bars are made from Prime Steel and may have visual surface marks that in no way impact the use to which they are intended. Let us know how you like them or give us ideas for improvement. We see little benefit in deep notching a perfectly good steel bar at the point of maximum bending stress and deflection(center of span).
