Auction / Shipping: This auction is for 12 of our "Show Quality" Black Copper Marans Hatching Eggs plus any extras I may have on shipping day. We ship fresh, clean, unwashed eggs collected several times a day and stored at 55 degrees for no longer than 1-3 days prior to shipping. We individually bubble-wrap each egg, place them in egg cartons cushioned with polyester pillow stuffing, the cartons are then double-wrapped in bubble-wrap and placed into USPS Large Priority Mail boxes. Breed Information: Black Copper Marans are a friendly, docile breed developed around the port city of Marans, France. They are a hardy, cold weather & disease-resistant bird useful for both meat & eggs, and are one of the most rare and sought after breeds in the USA. Most notably, their eggs are prized by French chefs for their rich, creamy yolks & albumin as well as the beautiful lustrous dark mahogany-colored shells! I have been breeding the BCMs for several years using some of the finest specimens I could find from all over the country; most recently I've introduced a 3rd champion line into our breeding program from "Mashburn's Marans" of Tennessee. We breed for not only the feathered shank French standard for type & brilliant copper plumage, but also for the darkest mahogany egg shell producing hens as well. Our birds have clear pumpkin-colored eyes, and do not have flop combs or occult white feathers. Our birds are permitted to free range (weather permitting) during the day to forage on several acres of open lawn and woodlands, and returned to their insulated coops to roost at night. Our BCMs are maintained on high quality pellets manufactured at our local feed mill in New Holland, PA, and supplemented with fresh produce & grains during the winter months. We also adhere to strict health & hygiene practices, and are avian influenza clean! I'll be glad to answer any questions, and will gladly offer advice both during & after the sale.
